Fishing the flats on Molokai, Dallas scores another fish.

Brad vacationing on Maui was trying to figure out how to sell the wife on letting him stay another day on Molokai. No go. He waded the shallows and hooked tailing bones. Also hooked a rare large GT on the flats for about 5 seconds.

Stuart walked into the “Pig Pen” and found this beauty. Days like this really makes you appreciate being on the flats on Molokai.

Bill attempts to keep the line high hoping to keep his bone from wrapping on a coral head. Some Hawaiian flats are loaded with obstacles and lifting the rod is often no enough. Always great to be connected to one of these Molokai bone fish.

Look for the Green Logs when walking the flats in Hawaii.  Most times they will start moving and be average sized Hawiian bones cruising the flats looking for a big meal.

Another average size Molokai bonefish landed on the fly.

Robert worked hard for this fish!  His first Hawaiian Bone as well as his 1st Molokai Bone.

Dan found this fish tailing in the shallows.  2 casts later he was tight on this one.  

Robert put his time in and got the hook up he was looking for.  He deserved it.

Pristine days such as this are cherished. We usually find some wind in Hawaii and on the flats.

Jeff spent the day on Molokai.  He had never caught a bone.  Luck was with him and a little skill and he stuck 2 and landed 1.

Marty Sheppard landed a nice little Jack.  Not the target species.  Fun none the less.  Marty liked it.

The Hawaiian bone fish have spectacular color and markings. Bringing a fish to hand gives one a chance to truly appreciate their size and beauty.

In other parts of the world the angler is trying to spot the shadow the bones cast on the bottom. In Hawaii the fish are large. We look for the emerald green of their backs.

This fish was the first Bonefish ever landed by Jeff.  He hooked a 2nd one that was larger, of course.  2nd fish ended up going across the reef and breaking him off.

Not talking about buds here. Our bones in Hawaii are green. Real green

A lot of my office time is spent in the tower polling the boat around. I really enjoy seeing what is happening in the ocean all around me on a daily bases.

Some day I commute outside the reef. In the winter time we often run into some wales. Its and added bonus to some world class flats fishing.

The one and only time I fished Oahu I caught this bone.

GTs are present but are not seen on the flats regularly. Making them hard to target. Most are caught fishing outside the reef with poppers.
